Privacy notice

Draft — awaiting legal review

This page sets out the structure of our privacy notice and what each section will cover. It has not been through a solicitor and it is not yet a document you can rely on. We are publishing the outline now because we would rather show you what is coming than leave a dead link. The finished version, with our registered company name and address, goes up before we take a single payment.

No cookies, no tracking pixels, no consent banner. This site sets no cookies and loads no third-party tracking scripts, so there is nothing to ask you to accept. Any measurement we add will be cookieless and unable to identify you.

  1. 01

    Who we are

The company operating PreHire, its registered address and company number, and how to reach the person responsible for data protection. Pending the entity registration.

  2. 02

What we collect from an employer

The name and work email of the person raising a check, the organisation name, and the candidate’s name, email address and role. We do not ask for a CV.

  3. 03

What we collect from a candidate

Consent, the referees they nominate, and the employment dates they give. We do not collect criminal-record, health or identity-document data, and we do not run DBS or right-to-work checks.

  4. 04

What we collect from a referee

Their answers to the questionnaire, the address they replied from, and the technical detail of that reply. Referees are told why they were contacted and who nominated them, before they are asked anything.

  5. 05

What we check against public sources

Companies House records, domain registration and mail records, and public professional profiles. These are open sources; the report names the source behind every result.

  6. 06

Why we are allowed to do it

The candidate’s explicit consent is obtained before any referee is contacted, and the section will set out the legal ground for each category of data.

  7. 07

    How long we keep it

The retention period for each category, the deletion schedule, and what a candidate or referee can ask to have removed sooner.

  8. 08

    Who else processes it

The suppliers who handle data on our behalf — hosting, email delivery, payments — with their role and location. See the sub-processor list.

  9. 09

    Cookies and measurement

This site sets no cookies and loads no third-party tracking scripts, which is why you were never asked to accept anything. If we add measurement it will be a cookieless tool that cannot identify you or follow you between sites, and this section will name it. The signed-in application uses one strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in — that is not a tracking cookie and needs no consent.

  10. 10

Your rights and how to use them

Access, correction, deletion, objection and complaint, including the route for a candidate to request the report about them, and the ICO’s details.

If you are a candidate or a referee and you want to know what we hold about you before this notice is finished, email hello@prehire.ai and a person will answer you.
